Respected Principal, teachers and my dear friends, a wonderful morning to all of you. Today on this special occasion, I would like to speak some words on the topic- Article 370.
Article 370 was an article of the Indian constitution that granted special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It allowed Jammu and Kashmir to have a separate constitution and autonomous administration, exempt from the laws of the Indian state.
The article was issued by the Indian government when India went to war with Pakistan over Jammu and Kashmir due to territorial disputes after independence. In 2019, Article 370 was repealed, making the Constitution of India applicable to the state of Jammu and Kashmir too. In addition, it was decided that the state would be partitioned into two union territories- Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
To conclude, Article 370 is an important landmark that shows our evolution as an independent nation. Thank you for listening to me so attentively.
