Subject– My diwali celebration.
Dear Yash,
Hey. I read your last email and I am very happy to know that your diwali was so joyous and full of light and love.
My diwali was also great. I celebrated it with my entire family at my uncle’s house. The entire family reunited after almost 3 years. This was our first big celebration after covid, because of the lockdown we were unable to meet. My aunt who lives in Chicago surprised us and she got us so many presents. My day started with a puja at the local temple and then I got dressed and wore a saree.
I bought sweets to distribute amongst the poor from the confectionery that sells your favourite laddoos. After that we gathered for lunch and all of us chatted and joked. Maa made puris and aloo bonda. I made gulab jamuns. They turned out very tasty and everyone loved them. We shared presents and all the cousins danced. In the afternoon we had a rangoli competition that grandpa won.
We decorated the entire house with fairy lights. Since bursting crackers is not good for the environment we did not burst any crackers, instead we played games and my brother played the drum. We lit diyas and had one more puja in the evening for peace and prosperity.
I wish we could have celebrated diwali together just like we did all these past years but don’t worry next year we will celebrate together. Give my regards to your family. Miss you all.
Much love,
Kareena U
