Good morning to one and all present here. Today, I’ll be giving a short speech on the topic ‘Gandhi Jayanti’.
Gandhi Jayanti marks the birth of India’s Father of the Nation, Gandhi. It is celebrated nationwide on the 2nd of October every year.
This day is decreed as a national holiday thorough India each year in commemoration of the efforts and struggles of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in light of gaining independence for India through Ahimsa or non-violence. Every year, various speech and writing competitions and fancy dress competitions are held in remembrance of this great man.
This year, 2022, marks the 153rd birth anniversary of our beloved Bapuji. On this day, he was paid tribute to in various parts of the country. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in fact, paid his respects to Mahatma Gandhi on Gandhi Jayanti at Rajghat. The government of India also marked the culmination of the ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ event on his 150th birthday anniversary in 2018.
