- Bal Diwas is also known as Children’s Day.
- In India, Bal Diwas is celebrated every year on the 14th of November.
- It commemorates the birthday of India’s first Prime Minister, Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru.
- He loved and cherished children a lot, and said that “the children of today will make the India of tomorrow.”
- Nehru believed that the way that children are brought up will determine the future of the country.
- Children also loved Nehru a lot and lovingly called him “Chacha Nehru.”
- So, after Nehru’s death, the Government of India fittingly declared his birthday as Bal Diwas or Children’s Day.
- They did it so that all Indians may celebrate children in the way Nehru would have wanted.
- Bal Diwas is celebrated all across India, especially in schools.
- Schools usually have special celebrations and functions to entertain children on Bal Diwas.
