1) Indian mountaineer and sportswoman Arunima Sinha.
2) She was born on July 20, 1989, in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow district.
3) She has a younger brother and an older sister as siblings.
4) Arunima enjoyed playing volleyball at the national level and loved football.
5) On April 12, 2011, she was traveling from Lucknow to Delhi when some criminals threw her out of the train in an effort to steal her belongings.
6) The horrific occurrence severely wounded her left leg, which had to be amputated.
7) In addition, she chose to climb Mount Everest using a prosthetic leg after taking climbing training.
8) On May 21, 2013, she scaled Mount Everest and arrived at the top.
9) The Indian Sports Minister and the U.P. the state government recognised Arunima Sinha for her tenacity and hard effort.
10) On January 25, 2015, Arunima Sinha received the Padma Shri honour.
