This celebration provides an opportunity to promote gender equality.

It was started by the UN to declare this day as International Mountain Day.
On this day,all schools, colleges,and workplaces take their role by doing something in relation to celebrate this very day such as painting and writing competitions, art and crafts etc.
‘Women move mountains’ was the theme of International Mountain Day 2022.

It has been decided that the theme of 2023 International Mountain Day will be ‘Restoring mountain ecosystem’.
It contributes to improving all sorts of social injustice that women face.
Mountains are so important for the working of the ecosystem. It is the world’s ‘water towers’ and it provides 60-80% of all the freshwater. This is the main reason why it is so important to care for our mountains and to be well educated about it.

A lot of implementation and efforts are made on this day to preserve and protect our mountains. This has become a crucial factor.
