- Govind Ballabh Pant was born on 10 September 1887 at Almora, Uttarakhand of India.
- He was an Indian freedom fighter.
- He was among one of the architects of modern India.
- He was the first chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.
- He was awarded the Bharat Ratna on 26 January 1957.
- Reorganization of states along linguistic lines was one of his major achievements.
- He was also responsible for the establishment of Hindi as an official language.
- He died on 7 March 1961 at the age of 73, from cerebral stroke.
- At the time of his death he was serving as Home minister of India.
- Many Indian hospitals, educational institutions and foundations are named after him.
