- Gir National Park is a wildlife sanctuary situated in Gujarat.
- It was originally established to protect Asiatic lions.
- Presently, it is the only place where Asiatic lions are found in their natural habitat.
- Approximately, 600 lions can be found here.
- In addition, it also protects leopards and antelopes.
- Gir Jungle Trail, outside the fenced area, traverses a deciduous forest.
- It shelters a lot of wildlife, including vultures and pythons.
- The entry fee is 100 for normal days and Rs. 125 for festivals/Saturdays/Sundays.
- Non-residents of India (up to 6 people) have to pay an entry fee of Rs. 5600 – 7000 on a normal day.
- Months October to May is the Best Time to Visit Gir Sanctuary.
