- His father Zalnur Ali was a doctor.
- He pursued his education from St. Catherine College, Cambridge, England.
- Before entering politics, he became a lawyer.
- He had also served as the Advocate General of Assam till 1952.
- He was appointed as the union minister for Irrigation and Power in 1966.
- Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed imposed a national emergency in 1975 on the advice of the then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi.
- During his presidency, he was also a keen follower of sports and was a famous golfer.
- His leadership was marked by his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.
- He died in 1977 while in office.
