A continent is a large, solid area of land.
It is believed that initially, Earth only had a large landmass called Pangea, and millions of years ago, this Pangea began to break apart, and the pieces that moved were the beginning of the continents.
A continent contains the islands as well.

They are Asia, Africa, Antarctica, North America, South America, Europe, and Australia.
These continents vary in size and population.
Asia is the largest continent.
Australia, also known as Oceania, is the smallest continent.
Africa is the continent with the most countries.
Antarctica is icy and has very little plant and animal life.
