Constitution Day is observed on November 26 every year in India.
November 26 is the day on which the Constituent Assembly of India adopted India’s Constitution in 1949.
Though it was adopted on November 26, it came into effect only on January 26, 1950.
This day is observed to remember the efforts of all men and women who took part in drafting our country’s constitution.
The constituency day is also called the “Samvidhan Divas”.
It was only in 2015 that the country started to observe Constitution Day on November 26th.
This was to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, father of the Indian Constitution.
On this day, there are special programmes in schools and colleges to make the students familiar with the constitution and also aware of their fundamental rights and duties.
The preamble of the Constitution is read aloud in all schools and colleges on November 26th.
It is our constitution that provides us the right to equality and justice, and hence, on Constitution Day, we acknowledge our constitution and also all the people who worked behind it.
